It seems that one of the restaurant chain Chipotle’s high-ranking members is addicted to more than just delicious burritos and taco bowls. Mark Crumpacker, the chief creative and development officer of the burrito chain, was indicted in an alleged cocaine purchasing drug ring in New York City on Thursday.
Crumpacker has yet to make any comments on the allegations. A spokesperson for Chipotle stated that Crumpacker has been placed on administrative leave. The spokesperson also said, “We made this decision in order to remain focused on the operation of our business and to allow Mark to focus on these personal matters. Mark’s responsibilities have been assigned to other senior managers in his absence.”
It’s been a rough few months for Chipotle. Earlier this year, Chipotle was involved in a high profile food scandal, where many customers were getting sick from eating tainted meat. It took months of new marketing and positive word-of-mouth before customers began to trust Chipotle again. Surely this story will again put a bad taste in the mouth of their patrons.
